Adam
J. Sorkin has published thirteen books of translation,
most recently Sea-Level Zero, poems by Daniela Crasnaru
(BOA Editions, 1999, published with an Academy of American
Poets Eric Mathieu King Fund grant) and The Triumph
of the Water Witch, prose poems by Ioana Ieronim (Bloodaxe
Books, 2000), which was short-listed for the Weidenfeld
Prize, St. Anne's College, Oxford. His work has won
the International Quarterly Crossing Boundaries Translation
Award and the Kenneth Rexroth Memorial Translation Prize,
as well as awards in Cluj and Iași. Distinguished Professor
of English at Penn State University, Sorkin has been
awarded Fulbright, IREX, and Rockefeller Foundation
grants, and his collaborative translations have appeared
in more than 200 literary magazines worldwide.
