The trial
I want to die by your side.
Just me and my soul,
"between us", nothingness.
Rolled cover sheets across your body,
dim light of dawn: singular Witness.
I will lay still,
Just me and my soul,
"awaiting between us", endless.
Wet drops in my hair forming
lines across my body-streams of fire,
volcano light of dusk: one track minded Prosecutor.
I wish to close my eyes,
Just me and my soul,
"closing statement between us", excruciating.
your body facing down, mine above,
dark silence presiding over the cold room: the Judge.
I shall listen to my sentence,
Just me and my soul,
"watching between us", tormenting.
your profile deeply embedded with resentment,
the last minutes of life
slowly drowning from my body: a hung Jury.
