Ronald Dagonnier (B,
1967), photographer and video maker, is a "picture maker" traveller.
His video installations, his pictures creations and his anamorphosis
question the show of the world.
As a painter, his
palette shapes the cliché, New York, Jérusalem, Cuba, Ghana... He
hedges off. His pictures disclose our culture and our ways of
perceiving. From an animated or still picture, he always faces the
human being with his position in the world.
“The purpose of
Ronald is to flatten both the time and the space of the filmed
sequence: among the different shots of the images he chooses from the
monitor those that contain the most important elements of the scene
and he recomposes them on another screen. The result is a photo
without the constraints of framing, a larger image than the one that
our eyes can grasp and more complete than the one captured by wide
angle lenses. Applyed to street or interior scenes, this method
reaches the cubist ideal: make visible in 2 dimensions the essence
itself of a given subject, both in time and in space.” Pierre-Yves
Desaive. (La Meuse, February 1999)
